Sometimes we just need to get away. Away from our jobs, our city, and our everyday routines. It might be on a boat, floating across a bay, observing the city from a distance. That’s how we find ourselves gazing back at buildings that climb upward across the mountain, with the nearest person a swimming distance away. Other times the getaway is by car, plane, train, even our own two feet. Either way, there is something travel does for us that can’t really be replicated by anything else.
The city in this image is beautiful, with intricate details mixed across a wide spread of architecture and greenery but from within the city itself you wouldn’t be able to really appreciate the grandness of it all. Our own lives are often the same, full of beauty and detail that we can’t fully see when we are in the thick of things. That’s where travel comes in. There is something travel does for us that can’t really be replicated by anything else.
Travel connects us to our better selves. With travel we can rest, relax, and enjoy the day without work or commitments from home pulling us out of the moment. With travel we can take in the views, without being part of them. In travel we can be whoever we want to be even if only for an afternoon or two. Whether we travel far across land and sea, or just push off the dock a ways and see where the current takes us, time for travel can do each of us some good.

The photograph of the fox - The fox is totally unaware of the photographer, makes me feel like a fly on the wall - or a petal on these purple flowers reviewing the world from his perspective.
