“Don’t waste time waiting for inspiration. Begin and inspiration will find you.” - H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Sometimes the hardest part of anything is simply getting started. It’s easy to sit back on our heels and hope that the perfect moment, opportunity, or inspiration will strike us.

The belief that great things must develop first from a point of perfect inspiration, just isn’t true. More often, it is a curiosity about the maybes, the possibilities, that start us towards our best moments. ‘What would happen if..?’ is a powerful curiosity that can push us to take that very first step, stop wasting time, and trust life’s process.

This picture is an example of one of those times in life where I am glad I just stopped passing time and got started. The route I was taking was new to me and I wasn’t certain what I would find. Still, I took my camera with me and went. I was strolling, just keeping my eyes open pondering possibilities but not settled on any specific thing. Then, I looked up to see the light draping over this mountain side. It was truly captivating, a glimmer of something that could never be artificially made. At that moment inspiration struck and this picture came to life.

We all find ourselves facing those times where we aren’t sure where the next step leads; about to move down a path that has an unknown end, or even stuck at a fork in the road unable to commit to a direction. These are the moments where we have to take a deep breath, and go - one foot, one idea, one curious question after the other. If I had waited at the trailhead for some sort of sign or specific lighting the day of this picture, I would have missed the moment entirely. Now this picture can be hung and viewed by those around as a reminder that sometimes the key to a beautiful result isn’t having a perfect plan, it is simply getting started.

My print turned out amazing!

It fits perfectly in my entryway. I love the little story that comes with the print explaining where the photo was taken. The website is very user friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Truly a great experience!

Causes me to slow down

In a world flooded with fast imagery, Nathan's photography causes me to slow down, to consider the story, to stay awhile and wonder.

The photograph of the fox - The fox is totally unaware of the photographer, makes me feel like a fly on the wall - or a petal on these purple flowers reviewing the world from his perspective.
