Conflicted Influence

Sometimes power is the stand out attention grabbing force that pops immediately into our mind when the word is spoken. It’s evident to everyone who takes a second to look at it, and leaves little room for question of its strength. The explosive power of a football lineman, the burst of energy from a rocket lifting into space, or a steam engine pulling car upon car of freight without a struggle. It’s a natural kind of power that many people desire and only some possess, but it isn’t the only kind.

Looking down from above in a photo like this, the power of the ocean is truly breathtaking. The deep blue water churns into white capping waves that crash down on the shore day in and day out. While the ocean draws our eyes, it isn’t just the ocean that is strong. The sand of the beach shows its own might as it remains steadfast through the water’s continuous push and pull. It is a steady power that often goes overlooked.

It’s the power that comes when you show up each day, reliable, ready, and able to perform at your best. You might not be the player who charges the line for a highlight reel touchdown, but when you aren’t there to play the game, everyone feels it. Others are able to shine only because of your ability to be there through thick and thin, the good and the bad.

This power is an inner strength that carries forward in everything a person does. It’s not outwardly flashy but it is influential. Without it, the bold and flashy might not be so brilliant. By being the person willing to come back in to work after a rough day, give that tough goal one more shot, and keep the project moving forward we hold the power not only to our own success, but also the success of everyone who joins with us. After all, without the solid sand to break upon, would we even really see the ocean’s might?

My print turned out amazing!

It fits perfectly in my entryway. I love the little story that comes with the print explaining where the photo was taken. The website is very user friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Truly a great experience!

Causes me to slow down

In a world flooded with fast imagery, Nathan's photography causes me to slow down, to consider the story, to stay awhile and wonder.

The photograph of the fox - The fox is totally unaware of the photographer, makes me feel like a fly on the wall - or a petal on these purple flowers reviewing the world from his perspective.
